Description

Corrupted Dragon

'Thanks to your efforts, Naydra, the spirit of Mount Lanayru,
has been freed from the grips of an evil power.'

Purified Dragon
____________________________________________________

In the distance, you see Mount Lanayru, the highest peak in all of Hyrule, and you decide to journey there to see what secrets the sacred mountain may hide. The road is harsh, filled with dangerous monsters, and the air is so cold, you'll likely freeze to death if you stop moving for one second, but still you continue forward, up and around the mountain, for you feel something is waiting for you there.
When you arrive near the top, you hear a low growl, echoing through the night sky... The air becomes ominous, filled with poisonous malice, and you fear what may lie in wait. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, an ancient dragon awaits, its mind rotten and eaten away by the corruption of the Great Calamity... The Goddess requests that you free this noble spirit of this malice, and you let loose your first arrow, right through the eye of Ganon...

The three dragons in Zelda: Breath of the Wild are probably the thing I expected the least to find in this vast world. Naydra was the first one I found, and I was so in awe that there actually were dragons in this game, I wasted no time in freeing the poor thing. I fell in love with the dragons immediately! The best thing is, I actually believed Naydra was the only one there was, and when I saw Farosh in the distance later on, casually flying over the Bridge of Hylia, I lost it and just ran over to it.

There is just something about these dragons that, when I watch them fly by, makes me relaxed almost instantly, and I can't help but just stand there and watch them, even if they're far off into the distance. I actually felt bad having to shoot them repeatedly to get some of their scales and materials. xD So, of course, I just had to draw one of them, and now I'm actually thinking about drawing the other two to go with Naydra! Farosh and Dinraal both have awesome designs as well and their colours and themes would offer a good opportunity to play with the elements. I'll see what I'll do!

I hope you like it!

I absolutely adore the three dragons and I love how majestic Naydra looks in your artwork. I just wish the game would tell us a little bit more about the dragons. Like where do they really come from? What is their purpose? Did someone call them to guard the land of Hyrule? Also, just the fact that they are named after the three golden goddesses does not explain how close they really are to them. There are many interesting things in Breath of the Wild that just lack a propper explanation or rather there just isn't enough lore / story surrounding those things. That is the only thing where the game falls a bit short.
